I confess that I have not contributed as much to this blog as I would have liked to by this point in time (about six weeks since my arrival to South Africa).  However, I think that I have some good excuses.  First, I have been very busy with my research.  I swear.  And I’ll have something to show for it soon.  Second, I’ve been in a rural area without internet.

In fact, as I sit here composing this apology, I can’t help but feel a bit overwhelmed by the smell of deodorant, bug spray, sun screen, and other more natural fragrances.  Internet before showering.

An update:  I’ve been in Durban and also in Mkuze, doing field research at the Somkhanda Game Reserve (a land claim example).  More on this soon, I promise.  I might even post photos of a rhino capture.
